originally published: 09/27/2022

(HOPEWELL, NJ) -- Indie venue Hopewell Theater’s Halloween Fright Fest returns with a classic lineup of Halloween, horror, and thriller films from October 26-30. Kids, families, and fans of horror, thriller, and classic film will enjoy the event’s lineup.

Fright Fest: DRACULA (1931) - Wednesday, October 26 at 8:00pmThe dashing, mysterious Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi) travels to London and takes up residence in an old castle after hypnotizing a British soldier, Renfield (Dwight Frye), into his mindless slave. Soon, Dracula begins to wreak havoc, sucking the blood of young women and turning them into vampires. When he sets his sights on Mina (Helen Chandler), the daughter of a prominent doctor, vampire-hunter Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan) is enlisted to put a stop to the count's never-ending bloodlust.

Fright Fest: PSYCHO (1960) - Thursday, October 27 at 7:00pm & Sunday, October 30 at 7:00pmPhoenix secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), on the lam after stealing $40,000 from her employer in order to run away with her boyfriend, Sam Loomis (John Gavin), is overcome by exhaustion during a heavy rainstorm.Traveling on the back roads to avoid the police, she stops for the night at the ramshackle Bates Motel and meets the polite, but highly strung proprietor, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), a young man with an interest in taxidermy and a difficult relationship with his mother. One of the most shocking films of all time, Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho changed the thriller genre forever.

Fright Fest: THE SHINING (1980) - Thursday, October 27 at 9:30pm & Saturday, October 29 at 8:00pmAcademy Award winner Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall star in director Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's disturbing blockbuster horror novel. Writer Jack Torrance (Nicholson), a former alcoholic, accepts a job as the winter caretaker for a hotel high in the Rocky Mountains, isolating him, his wife (Duvall), and their psychic young son until spring. But when the first blizzard blocks the only road out, the hotel's stored energy from evil past deeds begins to drive Jack insane… and there may be no escape for his family in this haunting story of madness, memory, and violence.

Family Fright Fest: THE GOONIES (1985) - Saturday, October 29 at 2:00pmMikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in place of their neighborhood - unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that's quite doubtful. But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed "One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen, Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, Andrea "Andy" Carmichael, Stefanie "Stef" Steinbrenner, and Richard "Data" Wang – calling themselves The Goonies – set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood.

Family Fright Fest: GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) - Sunday, October 30 at 4:00pmAfter the members of a team of scientists lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become "ghostbusters" to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city.
