Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Assassins"

originally published: 09/19/2024

(HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Assassins from September 20 through October 5, 2024. Assassins explores the lives of nine men and women who either killed (or tried to kill) one of the Presidents of the United States. It features Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by John Weidman.

From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald and beyond, the stories of our country’s most successful and would-be assassins intersect in unexpected ways, creating a powerful, yet unnervingly funny look at some of the most shocking moments in U.S. history.

Performances take place Friday, September 20 at 8:00pm; Saturday, September 21 at 8:00pm; Sunday, September 22 at 3:00pm; Thursday, September 26 at 8:00pm; Friday, September 27 at 8:00pm; Saturday, September 28 at 3:00pm & 8:00pm; Sunday, September 29 at 3:00pm; Thursday, October 3 at 8:00pm; Friday, October 4 at 8:00pm; and Saturday, October 5 at 3:00pm & 8:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. Haddonfield Plays and Players is located at 957 East Atlantic Avenue in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

The original off-Broadway production in 1991 was nominated for six Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Musical. A 2004 Broadway production won five Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, three Drama Desk Awards, and two Outer Critics Circle Awards.
