Classic Radio Road Show to present "Gunsmoke" and "Frontier Gentleman" Radio Plays

originally published: 01/21/2025

(LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- On Monday, March 3, 2025, Classic Radio Road Show will present two radio plays - episodes of Gunsmoke and Frontier Gentleman - at the West End Arts Center Auditorium (132 West End Avenue) in Long Branch. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Gunsmoke ran on the radio from 1952 until 1961!  William Conrad played Marshal Dillon on the radio while James Arness played the character for the popular TV series.  This episode is “Chester’s Dilemma”, Chester has an admirer, but fears she may have an ulterior motive.

Frontier Gentleman was broadcast for one season in 1958 and starred John Dehner as J.B. Kendall, a journalist from the London Times who travelled the American West of the late 1800’s, meeting curious characters both fictional and historical.  This episode is “Beljoy’s Prisoner”, where Kendall is held prisoner by a small town sheriff/mayor/executioner who insists that Kendall give his daughter deportment lessons.

Both episodes are performed by live voice actors, accompanied by a Foley sound effects artist to help tell the story with props manipulated to create a rich soundscape.  Don’t miss this unique and memorable evening of radio dramas!

Tickets are $10 for NJRep subscribers and $15 for nonsubscribers. Tickets are available for purchase online or by calling (732)229-3166 for info.
