Celebrating 30 Years of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" with a Special Fundraiser Screening at The ShowRoom

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom is thrilled to announce a special 30th anniversary fundraiser screening of the groundbreaking film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert on Saturday, July 27th, 2024. This celebratory event will benefit The Center in Asbury Park, an organization dedicated to serving the needs of the LGBTQ+ community and people living with HIV/AIDS. Showtime is 7:30pm.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert has been a landmark film in LGBTQ+ cinema, showcasing themes of acceptance, resilience, and the transformative power of community. These themes resonate deeply with the work done at The Center in Asbury Park, which provides supportive services, housing, and advocacy for individuals in need.

The evening will feature a special introduction by Asbury Park's own Aurora Van Wales Irving, a legendary figure in the LGBTQ+ scene for nearly 36 years. In 2023, Aurora was honored as "The Mother Of Asbury Park's LGBTQ+ Community" for her tireless advocacy and support. Her presence at the event underscores the powerful connection between the film's message and the ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity and support within Asbury Park.

Michael Roland, Executive Director of The Center in Asbury Park, expressed his enthusiasm for this event: "We're excited to team up with The ShowRoom again, especially after the success of our Winter fundraiser screening of It's a Wonderful LifePriscilla is a film that celebrates the strength and vibrancy of the LGBTQ+ community, much like what we strive to do at The Center every day. We look forward to an evening of entertainment, community, and support."

Join them for a night of celebration, reflection, and support for an incredible cause. Tickets are available now at The ShowRoom box office and online. A portion of each ticket purchased will go directly to supporting The Center in Asbury Park. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit showroomcinemas.com or contact The ShowRoom box office at (732) 502-0472. The ShowRoom is located at 707 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
