Brookdale Summer Shakespeare Ensemble presents "Much Ado About Nothing"

(LINCROFT, NJ) --  In an era of rapidly changing cultural landscapes and evolving theatrical tastes, it is truly remarkable to witness an event that has stood the test of time and continues to captivate audiences year after year. Such is the case with Brookdale Community College PAC’s Summer Shakespeare performance, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this season. As we applaud this milestone, we must also recognize the invaluable contribution this free event has made in serving the community, fostering artistic appreciation, and keeping the spirit of Shakespeare alive.

Much Ado About Nothing, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, takes center stage this summer, enchanting spectators with its witty wordplay, timeless themes, and unforgettable characters. Directed by the college's talented faculty member John Bukovec and featuring a dedicated ensemble of student and volunteer actors, this production promises to be a theatrical delight.

Over the past two decades, the summer Shakespeare performances at Brookdale Community College have become a cherished tradition, eagerly anticipated by theater enthusiasts and casual attendees alike. The enduring popularity of these shows is a testament to the enduring power of Shakespeare's work and the commitment of the college to provide high-quality cultural experiences to its community. What sets this annual event apart is its accessibility. By offering these performances free of charge, Brookdale Community College has removed financial barriers and ensured that Shakespeare's brilliance is accessible to all.

Much Ado About Nothing will be performed on the Great Lawn at Brookdale Community College’s Lincroft Campus July 13-16, 20-23rd 2023 at 7:00pm. Audience members are invited to bring a lawn chair and a picnic and enjoy this free 2 ½ hour performance. Please park in Lot 2 and follow the signs. In the case of inclement weather, please check the voicemail on the Box Office line for a recording of cancellation 732-224-2411.

(BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Wharton Performing Arts School (PAS) will hold auditions for the upcoming Wharton Players production of Beetlejuice JR., a hilarious and heartwarming Broadway hit based on Tim Burton's beloved film. Auditions will be held on September 5-6, 2025 for students ages 8-15, with performances scheduled for December 5-7 in the Wharton Black Box Theater.

Set in New York City on the Brink of a New Millennium, "The Boys From Kingsbridge" Makes Its NY Premiere

(NEW YORK, NY) -- Set in New York City on the brink of a new millennium, the New York Premiere of The Boy From Kingsbridge captures the grit and energy of 1999. Written by Steven Sarao, the two-hander stars James Lorinz and Sarao as childhood friends who grow up to become NYPD officers. Directed by Anna Rebek, the play runs for seven performances from August 27 through September 5, 2025 as part of the Dream Up Festival at Theater for the New City.

Ruth Stage presents "The Zoo Story" by Edward Albee

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Ruth Stage presents Edward Albee's The Zoo Story at the historic Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove from September 4-6, 2025. This searing one-act revival stars three-time Emmy winner Christian Jules Le Blanc (The Young and the Restless) and acclaimed Off-Broadway actor Matt de Rogatis, best known for his explosive turn as Brick in Ruth Stage's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.



Surflight

Surflight Theatre presents "Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story!"

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre brings back the Broadway hit musical Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story! from August 19 to September 7, 2025. Collin Yates stars as Buddy Holly in this journey through the legendary musician's life over the years (1936-1959, respectively). It is Collin's first time on the Surflight Theatre stage.
