Lazlo, founder of BlowUpRadio.com (an online radio station based around New Jersey artists), shines a light on some of the many new releases from NJ based musicians each week with this column. This week Lazlo takes a look at new releases by J Thoubbs, Tommy Strazza, Gina Royale, and Lazlo. Plus a look back at "Knockin" by Circlesquare.

J Thoubbs - "Season of the Riffs (Deluxe Edition)". J Thoubbs describes his new album as, "5 Tracks of ghoulishly fast-paced tunes!" (note: it also contains instrumentals of 4 of the tracks, 1 already being an instrumental, and the entire album as a single track)

I describe "Season of the Riffs (Deluxe Edition)" as being some inspired, energetic combination of hard rock, heavy metal, and punk. Crank it to 11 and raise the devil horns high!

Tommy Strazza - "Angus & Eddie". Once you hear the opening notes of Tommy Strazza's new instrumental single, "Angus & Eddie", it should become obvious to any fan of rock who Angus & Eddie are, and why this song is a very cool homage.

Gina Royale - "Save Room For Me". Gina Royale describes her new single, "Save Room For Me", as, "a song with everything you wanna say to your ex". It just so happens to also be a really good pop song.

Lazlo - "Hard To Say". No, this is not me. This Lazlo is an artist from New Brunswick, helped by harmony vocals and engineering from Max Rauch. The six song collection, "Hard To Say", showcases tunes that incorporate pop punk, emo, and bedroom rock.

Not New, But Memorable Corner

Circlesquare - "Knockin". A couple of years before Jet would break with "Are You Gonna Be My Girl", New Jersey band, Circlesquare had their own catchy rock song in a similar vein, "Knockin". The song kicked off their 2001 album, "Spirit of 76", named in part because their sound was inspired by 70's guitar rock.

That's all for this week.
