BlowUpRadio.com's New & Notable NJ Music 10/23/23

By Lazlo

originally published: 10/23/2023

Lazlo, founder of BlowUpRadio.com (an online radio station based around New Jersey artists), shines a light on some of the many new releases from NJ based musicians each week with this column. This week Lazlo takes a look at new releases by SOHMA, Jon Caspi & The First Gun, Katye Kellye and The Interruption, and Dave Kuchler. Plus a look back at "The Clock Doesn't Stop" by Matt Fisher & The Telephone Junkies.

SOHMA - "Overexposure". SOHMA's debut single, "Overexposure", is a beautiful, ethereal pop song, that according to the band is, "about enduring the heavy things life throws at you while trying to stay open and soft towards the world.. even when that feels impossible."

Jon Caspi & The First Gun - "We Don't Talk About It". Jon Caspi & The First Gun's new single, "We Don't Talk About It", showcases their roots rock/Americana side. Instantly catchy, and lyrics that are timely, and sadly will probably be for some time.

Katye Kellye and The Interruption - "The Story That We're In". Katye Kellye and The Interruption wrote a "Folky love song set in NYC", with, "The Story That We're In", and it is beautiful!

Dave Kuchler - "Love + Glory". If you are old enough, or cool enough, to remember NJ band Soul Engines, then maybe you already know of Dave Kuchler, who was a member of the band back in the early 00's. His second solo album, "Love + Glory" showcases some mid-tempo power-pop. The entire album is a series of earworms.

Not New, But Memorable Corner

Matt Fisher & The Telephone Junkies - "The Clock Doesn't Stop". A few months back you may recall me talking about a new Matt Fisher & The Telephone Junkies album in this very column. Well, what made me go looking to see what they were up to was listening to, "The Clock Doesn't Stop", their classic (in my opinion at least) album from 2006. If you love power-pop rock, you need to check this album out.

That's all for this week.

Remember BlowUpRadio.com, plays these and many other New Jersey based artists on our internet radio station, so please check us out. #SupportGoodMusic - If you like any of the above artists, please purchase their music from their site.
