(PARAMUS, NJ) -- Popular local jazz act The Peter Furlan Project host their New Jersey album release party for their freshly revealed Live At Maureen's Jazz Cellar at Bergen Community College's Ciccone Theater on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Showtime is 7:30pm.
Band leader and composer Peter Furlan, a recent recipient of the Nyack “Performing Artist of the Year” award, will showcase his unique take on modern jazz propelled by a diverse range of influences encompassing Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, Frank Zappa, and Gentle Giant among a host of others.
The Peter Furlan project features a three-man reeds section led by Furlan and fellow saxophonists Andrew Beals and Brad Hubbard, who also doubles on bass clarinet. Rounding out the horn section are local legends Vinnie Cutro on trumpet and flugelhorn and Erick Storckman on trombone. Completing the nine-piece are fellow virtuosos Neil “Nail” Alexander on keyboards, Charlie Dougherty on bass, Joel Newton on guitar and Nadav Snir‑Zelniker on drums.

Collectively, these local jazz ambassadors have played with a host of influential artists (Furlan himself appearing with Dizzy Gillespie, The Temptations, 10,000 Maniacs and The Four Tops to name a few). The band’s combined forces create a fresh new take on jazz in which “composition and improvisation feel equally essential – each piece unfolding like an intense expansive story with its own shifting moods” as reviewer Jonathan Widran aptly describes the new album in one of many rave reviews.
Presented by BergenSounds at Bergen Community College, the event begins at 7:30pm. Tickets are available in advance at tickets.bergen.edu for an $18 donation to the college’s Music Curricular Enhancement Fund, helping aspiring students hone their own musical chops (discounts available to BCC employees, students and other groups). Join them in Paramus as they celebrate the new album performed live in one of North Jersey’s hidden gem concert halls.
