Atlantic Highlands Arts Council presents "The Nature of Threes"

originally published: 06/17/2023

(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council (AHArts) presents “The Nature of Threes,” a solo exhibit of works by Seth Ruggles Hiler, in their main gallery from July 1 through August 5, 2023. The New Jersey and Brooklyn-based artist, considers his relationship to the Earth and her creatures, including the human species, as he paints moments of experience in his geographic, objective, and figurative paintings.

Through the layering of imagery, Hiler encourages viewers to unearth their own emotional responses, metaphors, and narratives. His expressive abstraction creates opportunities for dimensional overlaying of Hiler’s lived visual and vibrational experiences.

The Nature of Threes will include works by Hiler from before, during, and after the pandemic featuring a unique blend of portraiture, nature, and its creatures for which the artist is known. Works grouped in threes will invite viewers to reflect on connections and stories beneath and between, while contemplating the power of triads, trinities, and the impact of outside third forces on binaries.

AHArts will be hosting an Opening Reception on Saturday, July 1st from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Closing Reception and Artist Talk will be held on Saturday, August 5th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Refreshments and light fare will be served at both events, and both are free and open to the public.

The gallery is located at 54 First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. It is open from Wednesday through Sunday. For hours and directions, please click here.
