Art Alliance of Monmouth County presents 37th Annual Juried Exhibition

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Debmalya Choudhuri has been awarded first prize at the 37th Annual Juried Exhibition at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County at 33 Monmouth Street in Red Bank.  The exhibition will be on view from April 6-27, 2024. Kelly Long juried the artwork in the exhibition.  Long has served as Senior Curatorial Assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where she has managed the Photography Acquisitions Committee.

Long has been responsible for the development and installation of exhibitions such as Helio Oiticica: To Organize Delerium (2017); Rachel Harrison Life Hack ( 2019); and the forthcoming group show, Trust Me.Previously she has held curatorial and teaching positions at the George Eastman Museum and at the University of Rochester, and in 2020 collaborated on the running of Aid for Art Now (AFAN), a mutual aid project by and for art workers.  She hold an MA in Visual and Cultural Studies from the University of Rochester, and a BA in Art History from Vassar College.  Her writing has appeared in the catalogues for Chiharu: The Hand Lines and Gail Thacker: Fugitive Moments, and in publications such as InVisible Culture and Mossflower.

The exhibition will open April 6th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and will continue Tuesdays through Saturdays 12:00pm-4:00pm until April 27, 2024. The Annual Meeting with Pot Luck Refreshments will take place before the opening from 5:30pm – 6:00pm.  Donna Payton, who has recently exhibited her work in the windows of the Art Alliance, will demonstrate Crayon Monotype at the opening.

Exhibitions at the Art Alliance change monthly. Six exhibitions a year are for members of the Art Alliance only. Three exhibitions, including this 37thAnnual Juried Exhibition, are open to members and non-members. Every January, the Art Alliance hosts an invitational show, featuring work by notable area artists. During the summer months, the programming is open to artists selected by the Art Alliance’s curators who undertake their own shows.

Membership in the Art Alliance is open to visual artists at any skill level and to art lovers. Membership fee is $50 per year; $25 for students age 25 and under with ID. Benefits of membership include reduced entry fee for all exhibits $10 for first submission, $5 for 2nd and 3rd. Non-members  $15 for first submission, $10 for 2nd and 3rd); affordable studio space; diverse classes and workshops; networking opportunities; the possibility of mounting an independent exhibit during the summer. In addition, the Art Alliance maintains a website, a bi-monthly newsletter, and a Facebook page.

Founded in 1978, the Art Alliance of Monmouth County moved to its current space in 1992. The Art Alliance is dedicated to promoting the advancement of the visual arts and providing exhibition, studio, and classroom space to local artists. Trenton

Trenton City Museum presents "New Jersey Photography Forum: Fall Is in the Air"

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie invites the public to view "New Jersey Photography Forum — Fall Is in the Air" from September 11 to October 19, 2025. Highlighting the beauty and atmosphere of the autumn season, the 75 photographs in this exhibition capture what fall looks like to the exhibiting photographers. The exhibition was curated by Nancy Ori and Mitch Speert.



Skylands

Skylands Museum of Art presents Spotlight on the Artist: Massimo Rao

(LAFAYETTE, NJ) -- The Skylands Museum of Art presents a new fine art exhibition offering a Spotlight on the Artist: Massimo Rao, the Italian artist known for his classic yet somewhat mysterious painting style, opened Memorial Day weekend and will be on view through October 2025. The exhibition is on display in the museum's Sanctuary Gallery and highlights eight Rao works from the permanent collection, including oil and tempera paintings, lithographs and drawings, each of which serve to call attention to his unique creative perspective. Entrance to the Spotlight on the Artist is included with museum admission, a suggested donation of $10 per person.



Luke

Luke Jerram's Museum of the Moon to orbit Rahway in October

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- Museum of the Moon, a touring artwork by U.K. artist Luke Jerram, will be presented inside the majestic Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) in October 2025. This is the first time Museum of the Moon will be presented in New Jersey and one of a handful of times it has been exhibited on the East Coast in the United States.



Lambertville

Lambertville Free Public Library presents "Everything's Fine"

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Starting October 11, 2025, the Lambertville Free Public Library will be exhibiting Everything's Fine, a series of surreal paintings about mental health by Gwenn Seemel (they/them) that came together over the course of several years. Seemel livestreamed the painting process from their studio, broadcasting the making of this art in real time and chatting with viewers as they worked.
