American Dream to Kick Off Black History Month with Chef Marcus Samuelsson

(EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- American Dream has announced an exciting collaboration with globally acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson to honor and celebrate Black History Month throughout February. On February 2, the celebrity chef will conduct a cooking demonstration of pan-seared catfish on the Dream Stage (Court A, Level 1). This signature dish will be available on the menu at Marcus Live! (Court A, Level 3) for the first two weeks of February, followed by jambalaya for the remainder of the month.

“As a foodie myself, I’m beyond excited to watch one of the best chefs in the world teach us how to prepare a signature dish,” said Bryan Gaus, Senior Vice President and General Manager of American Dream. “We are thrilled to partner with Marcus Samuelsson and have the fantastic Marcus Live! call American Dream home. We look forward to celebrating Black History Month together.”

“Black History Month is a time to not only reflect, honor and commemorate, but also to celebrate – and this can be done in many ways, like through important conversations and meaningful cooking,” said Samuelsson. “I’m looking forward to kicking it off by demonstrating one of my personal favorite dishes in front of American Dream visitors while sharing some stories close to my heart. I hope guests will join the conversation and visit one of my newest restaurants just steps away – Marcus Live! – to try some other signature favorites.”

Marcus will take the stage at 6:00pm, followed by a performance by One Voice, One Sound Mass Choir of Community Baptist Church of Englewood. Guests are then encouraged to make reservations for dinner at Marcus Live!

The full-service restaurant spans more than 7,000 square feet and features a compilation menu of Samuelsson’s most acclaimed dishes. The menu features everything from Old Bay Crab Cakes and Jerk Pork Belly Wraps to Miso Halibut and Hot Honey Chicken and Cornbread Waffles. There are also large-format, shareable options, such as the family style “Festival Fried Chicken” and “The Garden State Jubilee,” featuring grilled shrimp, bbq brisket, grilled ribeye, and lobster tail. In addition to the dining options, the lively bar will feature an impressive wine list, local craft beers, and creative cocktails.
