Vanguard Theater presents "Spring Awakening"
 

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater presents Spring Awakening from June 22 to July 16, 2023. This hit musical features music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. An electric, vibrant celebration of youth and rebellion, censorship and its consequences, Spring Awakening fuses issues of morality, sexuality, and rock and roll into a story that packs a powerful emotional punch.

 



New Jersey Repertory Company Prepares for Pride Month Festival
 

The New Jersey Repertory Company, or NJ Rep, will once again host a Pride month festival in the Monmouth County community of Long Branch. The festival will consist of theater, art and photography and is just one element of a larger event taking place throughout the city. NJ Rep is the largest presenter in this event and their showcases will last the majority of the month.

 



1930s Dance Competitors Never Left the Stage
 

Long Beach Island's Surflight Theatre kicks off its 2023 season June 1 with Kander and Ebb's "Steel Pier: The Musical," on stage through June 17.

 



Film Adaptation of Off-Broadway "Frankenstein" Musical Begins to Stream
 

Producers John Lant and Tamra Pica have announced that a film adaptation of their Off-Broadway hit musical, Frankenstein, by New Jersey-based composer/playwright Eric B. Sirota, has been released and available to stream on StreamingMusicals.com. It was recently re-imagined for the screen in what is an exciting new hybrid between a stage performance and a movie musical, with an expanded and orchestrated score.

Billy Joel's Historic Monthly Residency at Madison Square Garden to Conclude with 150th Performance in July 2024
 

(NEW YORK, NY) -- Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. ("MSG Entertainment") and legendary musician and MSG franchise Billy Joel announced on June 1st that after ten extraordinary years, Joel's historic franchise run at The Garden will conclude with his 150th lifetime show at the venue in July 2024. With this also comes the announcement that the first of the final ten shows in his record-breaking residency at The World's Most Famous Arena will take place on October 20, 2023.

The Princeton Festival presents "The Barber of Seville" and Performance by Will Liverman
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- At the Princeton Festival on June 16, 18, and 20, opera newbies and aficionados alike will relish an all-new production of Gioachino Rossini's comedic showpiece The Barber of Seville. Rossini's opera, with libretto by Cesare Sterbini, premiered in Rome, Italy in 1816, and has since become one of the most frequently performed operas worldwide. An opera buffa masterpiece, The Barber of Seville offers superbly comical situations with elaborate disguises, outrageous bribery, close shaves, and captivating characters. Performances take place at the Festival’s outdoor performance pavilion on the grounds of Morven Museum & Garden.

 



New Jersey Symphony to Perform Free Outdoor Concert at Ocean County College
 

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Ocean County College welcomes back a summer tradition with an outdoor concert performed by the New Jersey Symphony on Tuesday, June 27 at 8:00pm on OCC's main campus in Toms River. The family-friendly program, sponsored by the Ocean County College Foundation, is open to the public; admission and parking are free of charge.

Amazing dance film Circle will be shown at the 2023 New Jersey International Film Festival on Sunday, June 4!
 

Phillip Kaminiak’s dance film Circle will be shown at the 2023 New Jersey International Film Festival on June 4, 2023, in person at 5 p.m. and online for 24 hours as a part of the festival’s Shorts Program #2. Circle is “an analogy between the modern human being, living in mass cities, and the phenomenon of the circle of death.”

The Gallery in the Park hosts Meet the Artists Reception and Art Show on June 11th
 

(SEWELL, NJ) -- There is a new art exhibit at The Gallery in the Park, the outdoor display area at the Amphitheater in Washington Lake Park, and new sculpture gracing the Amphitheater stage. The public placement of artworks is occurring under Painting the Town, a project of the Sustainable Washington Township Creative Team whose mission is to enhance awareness of and participation in the arts in the Township. Participating artists will be recognized at a free reception on June 11, 4:00-6:00pm at the Amphitheater. The public is invited to meet the artists, have a light snack, and listen to the music of Guitarman Bob.

New Jersey State Council on the Arts to Receive Nearly $1.2 Million from the National Endowment for the Arts
 

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The New Jersey State Council on the Arts has been approved for a grant of $1,190,200 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). For nearly 60 years, the Council has received funding from the Endowment as part of its State and Regional Partnerships program, which extends the reach of federal resources through State Arts Agencies nationwide. This year's award is the Council's largest NEA partnership grant in its 57-year history. This competitive grant supports Council operations as well as statewide priorities in the areas of arts education and lifelong learning, folk and traditional arts, and community and economic development.

 



Art House Productions Launches $500k Reopening Campaign to Support New Performing and Visual Arts Center in Jersey City
 

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions, a leading nonprofit arts organization dedicated to promoting local and regional artists and providing accessible arts programming in Jersey City, is thrilled to announce the launch of its $500,000 Reopening Campaign.
