National Premiere of "A Trojan Woman" comes to Luna Stage
 

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage is thrilled to announce the National Premiere of A Trojan Woman, a searing solo performance adapted from Euripides by Maplewood resident Sara Farrington, directed by Meghan Finn and starring Drita Kabashi. Performances run from March 15-24, 2024.

 



Ocean County Library Toms River Branch presents When Radio Entertained People
 

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Return to the era when families gathered around the wireless set for "theater of the imagination." The Ocean County Library Toms River Branch will host a live presentation by When Radio Entertained People (WREP) on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 7:00pm.

 



McCarter Announces Workshop of New Commission "I and You: A Musical"
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) — McCarter Theatre Center announced the workshop of its newest commission, I and You: A Musical, a musical adaptation of the acclaimed play by Lauren Gunderson, one of America's most produced playwrights. The closed-session workshop, directed by McCarter's Artistic Director Sarah Rasmussen, is now in process through March 15th and features the celebrated talents of Gunderson (book) and composer Ari Afsar (music & lyrics). Broadway's Casey Likes (Back to the Future The Musical) and Television's Salena Qureshi (The Society on Netflix, Madame Secretary on CBS) star as Anthony and Caroline.

 



Axelrod Performing Arts Academy presents "Moana Jr."
 

(DEAL PARK, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Academy presents a musical adaptation of Disney's Moana, Jr. at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal Park. Moana Jr. is a 60-minute musical based on the groundbreaking 2016 animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life on stage. Performances take place Saturday, April 6 at 7:00pm, and Sunday, April 7 at 2:00pm.

Lantern Theater Company Announces 2024-25 Season
 

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Lantern Theater Company is thrilled to announce its upcoming 2024-25 season, which will mark the company's 31st year of bringing great stories from great writers to Philadelphia and beyond. The Lantern will showcase four extraordinary plays from some of the world's best playwrights, past and present: The Wanderers by Anna Ziegler; American Moor by Keith Hamilton Cobb; William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing; and Patrick Barlow's rollicking adaptation of the classic John Buchan adventure novel and Alfred Hitchcock film, The 39 Steps.

 



Two River Theater presents the World Premiere of "A Thousand Maids" by Tony Meneses
 

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere comedy, A Thousand Maids, by Two River favorite Tony Meneses (The Hombres, Guadalupe in the Guest Room), directed by Drama League Director's Project Fellow and recipient of the Yale 2019 Kauffman Memorial Prize, Aneesha Kudtarkar (Water by the Spoonful, Queen). The show will run April 6–28, 2024 in the Marion Huber Theater.

 



F. Murray Abraham to Appear in a Staged Reading of "Fragments" by Edward Albee at Black Box PAC
 

(TEANECK, NJ) -- Black Box PAC has announced that F. Murray Abraham will appear in a special benefit performance of Edward Albee's Fragments on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall. F. Murray Abraham has appeared in more than 80 films including Amadeus, for which he received the Academy Award® for 'Best Actor,' as well as Golden Globe® and L.A. Film Critics Awards. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Altamura Legacy Concerts to Close Out Debut Season with Bach's Goldberg Variations
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- On Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 4:00pm, Altamura Legacy Concerts (ALC) at Princeton United Methodist Church presents the final concert of its exceptionally well received first season which presented over thirty distinguished artists from Princeton, New York and Italy side by side with students from Legacy Arts International's All-Abilities and Youth Ambassadors of Excellence in five concerts where over-flow seating was necessary to welcome enthusiastic audiences. New Jersey Announces New Cohort of Film Ready Communities
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission (NJMPTVC), part of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), announced on March 13, 2024 that 14 municipalities and four counties have completed the Film Ready New Jersey Program and are now designated as Film Ready Communities. The multi-step training and certification process prepares communities to accommodate movie and television producers and effectively market themselves as film destinations.

An Interview with Jim Loughin of moe.

On Thursday, July 4, 2024, moe. will be returning to the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Joining them will be summer tour collaborators, Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country and Neighbor. To celebrate the return of moe. for the 50th anniversary of the Stone Pony, I was able to catch up with Jim Loughin (percussionist/Swiss army knife) and relive the glory days of past performances at the Jersey Shore while discussing the current state of the band.
