Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater & Music Theater presents "Love Type Beat"
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University will present Love Type Beat, a partly immersive new play conceived and directed by Princeton seniors Nica Evans and Tanéyah Jolly. The work explores Black women and femmes' relationships with different types of love through a series of vignettes, some of which invite audience interaction and participation. Performances are on February 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 at 8:00pm in the Wallace Theater at the Lewis Arts complex on the Princeton campus. The show is free and open to the public, however due to the immersive nature of the show attendance at each performance is limited to 30 and advance tickets are required through University Ticketing.

 



After Midnight: Boundless Entertainment in a Horrid Chapter of U.S. History
 

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- The musical After Midnight opens slowly as a singer wails about long bread lines in Harlem, in New York City, everywhere in America. She sings on about the awful state of affairs in America, the Great Depression.

 



Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presents 3rd Annual One-Act Play Festival
 

(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center, the nonprofit community theater, housed within the historic duCret Center of Art in Plainfield, presents its third annual one-act play festival from March 1-3, 2024. Set to showcase the vibrant talents of New Jersey playwrights, this year's festival will feature an eclectic line-up of five captivating productions, including four world premieres and one New Jersey premiere.

The benefit will air on March 2nd & 3rd, with musicians performing live on its station, raising funds for those in need of financial assistance upon facing a life-changing organ or tissue transplant.

The North Jersey Blues Society present Bees Deluxe at the Montclair Brewery
 

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Celebrating the release of their new album "Hallucinate," packed between the bass drum and the guitar amp in their ancient van, Bees Deluxe, Boston's most exciting blues band is hitting the road for a whirlwind mini-tour to not only promote the new recording, but to share the unique sound they call "acid blues." The tour includes shows in Tuckerton and Montclair.

(SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ) -- Guitarist and Songwriter Rupert Wates will perform at The All Saints' Episcopal Church in Scotch Plains on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 7:30pm. The acclaimed finger-picking guitarist plays an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, contemporary and traditional – with other touches like classical, vaudeville, and cabaret.

 



Light Opera of NJ presents Stars of Tomorrow
 

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Light Opera of NJ (LONJ) presents Stars of Tomorrow, a vocal competition for New Jersey High School students. The competition will consist of a qualifying round based on videos submitted online, followed by a semifinal round on April 6 at 10:00am in South Orange, NJ and the finals on April 21 at 2:00pm in Basking Ridge. The goal is to provide a platform for young vocalists to showcase their abilities and gain valuable experience in a supportive and professional environment. LONJ believes that music has the power to inspire and uplift, and they are excited to see what the future holds for these talented young performers.

 



Westminster Conservatory Noontime Recitals presents music for solo piano
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will present a recital for solo piano on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 12:15pm. The soloist, Theodore Hendricks-Verdejo, is a member of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory of Music. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church. It is open to the public free of charge.

(TEANECK, NJ) -- Black Box Studios presents a stand-up comedy triple headliner featuring Mark Riccadonna, Don Jamieson, and Jim Florentine on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall. Doors are at 7:30pm, showtime is 8:00pm.

Spring 2024 New Jersey Film Festival Winners Announced
 

The Competition component of the Spring 2024 New Jersey Film Festival has just concluded! Congratulations to the Winners! Overall, we had a good festival this year. We had a few screenings that were very well attended and a few with lower turnouts but that happens every festival for a variety of reasons. The in-person show attendance was much better than our Festival last Fall so that is encouraging but the online shows are what have kept us afloat financially since COVID broke in 2020. Average viewership per show was 82.

Middletown Arts Center Announces February Movies at the MAC
 

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center has announced the lineup for Movies at the MAC in February. The movie series presents three separate programs spotlighting the best in comedy, theater and music on celluloid: The MAC Classic Comedy Movie Series, The MAC Broadway Matinee Film Series and Monday Night Music Club at the MAC.
