(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- Westrick Music Academy has announced the appointment of Lorraine Goodman as its new Executive Director. A seasoned arts administrator and accomplished soprano with a rich history in opera and musicals, Ms. Goodman brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering passion for the arts. Reporting to the Board of Directors and collaborating closely with Dr. Lynnel Joy Jenkins, her leadership promises to be invaluable as WMA continues to advance its mission and vision.

Ms. Goodman earned her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and forged a remarkable career in theater, including celebrated performances at Carnegie Hall and leading roles in opera and Broadway productions. Her journey led her to earn a Master’s in Performing Arts Administration at NYU Steinhardt. Amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Ms. Goodman’s transformative leadership revitalized the Latin American Legal Defense Fund, a testament to her visionary capabilities.

Ms. Goodman enthusiastically shares, “I am honored to join Westrick Music Academy and return to my roots in music, where the harmonious voices resonate with unmatched beauty.”

“I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to Lorraine Goodman, our new Executive Director,” says Dr. Archana Pradhan Lackey, Co-President of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Search Committee. “Her extraordinary background in arts administration aligns seamlessly with our mission. Lorraine will spearhead the implementation of our strategic plan, strengthen development efforts, broaden our outreach, and champion our core commitments to equity and inclusion. Under her stewardship, we are poised for an exhilarating journey ahead.”

“Music possesses the extraordinary power to inspire, unite, and uplift the human spirit. At Westrick Music Academy, we are unwavering in our commitment to nurturing the talents of young voices and musicians, guiding them towards excellence, and creating a welcoming community where the transformative magic of music is accessible to all,” says Dr. Jenkins, who embarks on her 15th season as Westrick Music Academy’s Artistic Director. “With the addition of our new Executive Director, Lorraine Goodman, and our dedicated administrative and artistic team, we stand on the threshold of even greater heights in our mission of musical excellence, education, and the pure joy of singing together.”

Ms. Goodman’s appointment underscores Westrick Music Academy’s dedication to fostering musical excellence in a supportive and inclusive environment. Under the joint leadership of Ms. Goodman and Dr. Jenkins, WMA is poised to inspire and transform lives through the unparalleled power of music.

Westrick Music Academy (WMA) is a dynamic and inclusive musical institution that has been transforming lives through the power of music since its inception. Our mission is to provide unparalleled opportunities for personal growth, self-expression, and musical excellence within a supportive and joyous environment.

At the heart of WMA's success are their flagship programs:

Princeton Girlchoir - Founded in 1989 as an after-school activity for 27 girls interested in singing, Princeton Girlchoir has evolved into an extraordinary ensemble of over 300 choristers. After auditioning, girls from 3rd through 12th grade are placed in choirs by age and ability. Through music education and performance, our choristers develop their voices, build confidence, and discover a lifelong love of singing together. Their musical journey includes professional performance opportunities, such as recent appearances at Carnegie Hall and international tours.

Princeton Boychoir - Launched in 2017, Princeton Boychoir is dedicated to developing boys into confident young men of character through song, music education, and leadership development. Boys from 3rd through 12th grade are placed in ensembles based on age and ability. Led by our esteemed Music Director, Mr. Adam Good, each chorister strives to be an outstanding musician while cultivating self-confidence through education and performance. Princeton Boychoir has graced concert stages locally and internationally, sharing the gift of music with diverse audiences.

Together, Princeton Girlchoir and Princeton Boychoir form the core of WMA's commitment to musical excellence, community engagement, and fostering lifelong friendships. Their collective impact transcends boundaries and enriches lives through the universal language of music.
