Westminster Conservatory Noontime Recitals continue on October 20 with music by Prokofiev for solo piano

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- On Thursday, October 20 at 12:15pm, the 21st season of Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will continue with a recital by Dr. Choah Kim performing solo piano music by Sergei Prokofiev. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street, Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge; masking is optional.

The program on October 20 comprises piano versions of scenes from Prokofiev's ballet music Cinderella, opus 95, and Romeo and Juliet, opus 75.

Kim, a native of South Korea, is a versatile pianist who has performed both as soloist and collaborative artist in prestigious venues worldwide, including Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Tsai Performance Center, and the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, among others. Known for her authentic and scholarly interpretations, Kim received the Esther B. and Albert S. Kahn Grant Award and was a winner of the Aaron Richmond Competition, the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, and the Music Education Newspaper Competition, among others.

Kim earned a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Seoul National University and a master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. She was awarded a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, where she was invited to join the Pi Kappa Lambda honor societyHer doctoral dissertation was entitled “The Choreographic Character Piece for Piano Solo: Cinderella by Prokofiev."

The next Westminster Conservatory at Nassau recital will take place on November 17 and feature oboist Melissa Bohl and duo pianists Ena Bronstein Barton and Phyllis Alpert Lehrer.

In addition, the Conservatory offers a wide range of classes and performing ensembles to engage every student, from the beginner to young maestros, regardless of age. Westminster Conservatory of Music is a nationally recognized institution, maintaining active membership in the National Guild for Community Arts Education.
