West Windsor Arts presents Tehani Mid-East & Polynesian Dance

originally published: 11/22/2023

(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- January is the perfect time to take a break from the cold weather and join West Windsor Arts for Tehani Mid-East & Polynesian Dance - a lively performance based on the traditional culture of Hawaii and the Mid-East. The performance takes place on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00pm.

The sun will be shining inside at the arts center as the Tehani Mid-East & Polynesian Dance Co takes the floor with traditional music and costumes. Learn about the cultural and historical significance for the dances of the region.

The audience will be treated to a Polynesian performance with an interlude for costume change and then a belly dance performance in folkloric styles. There will also be the opportunity for attendees to take to the floor to learn some traditional dances at this family friendly event.

Tickets cost $10 for WWA members or $12 for non-members. Click here for more information or to register for the event.

Director Margarete Naperski has been teaching and performing since the early 1970’s after studying in NYC from professional mid-east dancers, Serena Wilson, Ibrahim Farrah, Anahid Sofian and Morocco, as well as ongoing workshops throughout the country. Tehani Dance Company came into existence in the late 90’s after Mara’s return from a 2-year residence in Hawaii to learn dances of Polynesia while also teaching mid-east dance in Kaimuki on Oahu. Her student troupe has been providing professional entertainment at assisted living, nursing homes and community events since 2001.
