UCPAC presents the Rocky Horror Picture Show – A Live Movie Experience with the Cosmic Light Cabaret Shadowcast on Friday

originally published: 01/21/2025

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- Let's do the Time Warp again! Come see The Rocky Horror Picture Show – A Live Movie Experience with the Cosmic Light Cabaret Shadowcast on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC). This will be an interactive and fun night with audience call-backs, props, and more so you can join in all the fun. Live performers will act out the film in front of the screen for an immersive experience like none other. Costumes are welcomed, so don’t dream it – be it! Showtime is 8:00pm.

This 1975 musical comedy/horror film stars Tim Curry as Dr. Frank N. Furter, Susan Sarandon as Janet, and Barry Bostwick as Brad. Newly engaged couple Brad and Janet break down in the rain and head to a nearby castle for help. Inside they meet Dr. Frank N. Furter, a sweet transvestite from Transylvania, and their lives will never be the same. Now in its 49th year in theaters, the film, which was originally panned, is a cult classic that, in 2005, was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Tickets are $18 and available for purchase online. Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) is located at 1601 Irving Street in Rahway, New Jersey. Please note: This showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be a digital presentation.

“Located in Northern New Jersey and established in 1998, The Cosmic Light Cabaret (previously known as The Home of Happiness) is NJ’s longest-running Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast performance troupe. Their show is an interactive audience participation experience, combining the enjoyment of watching a movie with the thrill of live theatre!”

Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) has a well-earned reputation as the “Crown Jewel” of the performing arts scene in Union County. They’re a sophisticated performing arts campus presenting everything from rock concerts to theatrical productions, a multipurpose community center, a five-star rental facility for corporate, nonprofit, and private events, and currently, the home of New Jersey’s one and only classic movie palace!

EVENT PREVIEWS

Authentically

Authentically beautiful feature Supporting Actresses screens at the 2025 New Jersey International Film Festival on June 7!

Supporting Actresses (Secundarias) is bound to be a favorite in the 2025 New Jersey International Film Festival. Everything in this beautifully executed film directed by Arturo Dueñas, is centered around a play (Cartas al Emperador, “Letters to the Emperor”) and its ensemble’s representation of it. The film title references the marginality of our main characters who are secondary actresses inside the play. The production of Cartas al Emperador positions each woman in support of the king’s story as the tangential, dramatic or comedic foil to the straight-man; all of them merely women who marked his life by visiting on his deathbed.
