originally published: 01/13/2025

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom presents January with Joan, a special film series featuring four classic Joan Crawford films. This celebration of Crawford's extraordinary range as an actress kicks off Thursday, January 16 and runs through January 30, 2025. Tickets are just $15, and each screening offers a unique opportunity to experience the unmatched versatility of one of Hollywood’s most dynamic stars.

Sadie McKee – Thursday, 1/16 at 7:30pm. In this 1934 drama, Crawford plays a young woman caught in a love triangle that escalates into deep emotional turmoil. The film highlights Crawford’s ability to portray a strong yet vulnerable character. Along with Joan, the film stars  Edward Arnold, Esther Ralston, Franchot Tone, and Gene Raymond.

The Women – Sunday, 1/19 at 3:00pm. In this sparkling 1939 comedy of manners, Crawford steps into the role of a woman caught in a web of gossip and betrayal. The all-female cast shines as Crawford deftly navigates the film’s sharp humor and biting social commentary. Along with Joan, the film stars Mary Boland, Norma Shearer, Paulette Goddard, and Rosalind Russell.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? – Sunday, 1/26 at 3:00pm. In this 1962 psychological thriller, Crawford delivers an unforgettable performance as a faded movie star who becomes entangled in a twisted relationship with her deranged sister (Bette Davis). This chilling film showcases Crawford’s remarkable range as she brings both horror and pathos to the screen. In addition to Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, the film stars Julie Allred, Victor Buono, and Wesley Addy.

Mildred Pierce – Thursday, 1/30 at 7:30pm. Winner of the 1945 Academy Award for Best Actress, Crawford stars as Mildred Pierce, a woman driven to success and sacrifice to provide for her children. This noir drama demonstrates her unparalleled ability to portray a woman’s resilience and moral complexity. Along with Joan, the film stars Ann Blyth, Eve Arden, Jack Carson, and Zachary Scott.
