The ShowRoom Joins Nationwide 45th Anniversary Celebration of George A. Romero

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom is participating in the nationwide 45th-anniversary re-release of the iconic horror film, George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, with screenings on April 12-13 and April 18, 2024. As one of the most beloved and influential horror films of all time, Dawn of the Dead continues to captivate audiences with its thrilling storyline, groundbreaking special effects, and social commentary.

The ShowRoom Theater is thrilled to bring this cinematic masterpiece back to the big screen, allowing both longtime fans and new audiences to experience the horror classic in all its gory glory. The nationwide re-release of Dawn of the Dead features a stunning 4K restoration of the original film, ensuring that viewers can enjoy the movie in unparalleled visual quality. From the chilling opening scenes to the heart-pounding climax, audiences can immerse themselves in the terrifying world created by Romero.

"We are excited to be part of the celebration of George A. Romero's legacy with the re-release of Dawn of the Dead," said Royce Meier, Programming Director at The ShowRoom. "This film has left an indelible mark on the horror genre, and we are honored to provide an opportunity for audiences to experience it once again on the big screen."

Screenings will take place on Friday, April 12th at 8:00pm, Saturday, April 13th at 8:00pm, and Thursday, April 18th at 7:30pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. Don't miss your chance to witness this horror classic on the big screen as it was meant to be seen.

The ShowRoom, Asbury Park’s home to movies and more, is located at 707 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The ShowRoom Cinema opened in April, 2009, as a single-screen, 50 seat movie theater, with a goal of bringing provocative and relevant independent movies and engaging special events to the city’s budding downtown. In 2012 the theater evolved into a 3-screen, independent cinema and became the leading entertainment destination in Asbury Park’s eclectic, art-infused downtown shopping district.

Through its eleven year run, The ShowRoom brought an important selection of independent, first-run films — including critically-acclaimed domestic and foreign features, documentaries, festival winners and shorts — to the Jersey Shore. It also hosted a variety of special one night only screenings, live performances and community-driven special events. The theater closed in 2020, but new owners Daria Parr and family are excited to welcome The ShowRoom back to Asbury Park. As the last year and a half has shown, the simple pleasure of seeing a new release on a big screen with a roomful of fellow film fans is an experience many of us didn’t realize we would miss until it was gone.

The ShowRoom will continue to deliver the same high quality film selection and impeccable customer service that the theater has become known for while working toward the big picture goal: restoring some of what was lost during the pandemic by inviting our cherished guests to share the energy and fun of going to the movies again.
