The ShowRoom in Asbury Park presents A Summer Music Film Series

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- This July, The ShowRoom invites you to experience a special series of music-oriented films on the last three Thursdays of the month. Starting at 7:30pm on July 11th, 18th, and 25th, these screenings celebrate some of the greatest music performances ever captured on film. Asbury Park, known for its rich rock & roll heritage, provides the perfect setting for these cinematic events, with two films celebrating their 40th anniversaries.

Thursday, July 11th – Jonathan Demme's "Stop Making Sense" - Kicking off the series is Jonathan Demme's "Stop Making Sense," a film that captures the Talking Heads during their 1983 tour. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, this groundbreaking movie is renowned for its dynamic direction and energetic performances, featuring hits like "Psycho Killer" and "Once in a Lifetime."

Thursday, July 18th – Martin Scorsese's "The Last Waltz" On July 18th, they present Martin Scorsese's "The Last Waltz." Documenting The Band's farewell concert on Thanksgiving Day 1976, this film includes memorable guest performances by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell. It’s a heartfelt tribute to an era of music that defined a generation.

Thursday, July 25th – Albert Magnoli's "Purple Rain" - The series concludes on July 25th with Albert Magnoli's "Purple Rain." Starring Prince, this 1984 film, also celebrating its 40th anniversary, blends electrifying live performances with a compelling story of ambition and love.
