The Artist Collective Troupe presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" this weekend

(POINT PLEASANT, NJ) -- The Artist Collective Troupe will present their summer musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Woman's Club of Point Pleasant.  Join an eclectic group of pre-teens as they vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime!

While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life-unaffirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.  Six spellers enter, only one speller leaves a champion!  At least the losers get a juice box.

The production team consists of Eric Pertgen (director/choreographer), Chelsea Carlson (music director), and Chris Morano (stage manager).

Performances take place Friday, August 9 at 7:30pm and Saturday, August 10 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm at the Woman’s Club of Point Pleasant (located at 513 St. Louis Ave, Point Pleasant, New Jersey).  Tickets are available for purchase online and at the door for $18. Please note that “Spelling Bee” contains some PG13 language and humor that makes it more appropriate for teen and adult audiences.  Children under age five will not be permitted into the performance.

In keeping with ACT’s mission to give back to the community, proceeds from “Spelling Bee” will benefit Rescue Ridge, a no-kill animal rescue helping animals throughout the Jersey Shore find their forever homes.

ON-GOING EVENTS

(MADISON, NJ) -- Long before Bridgerton sparked desires and ignited our screens, a young, new writer set the hearts of England ablaze with the deep longing of her compelling characters. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility tells the captivating tale of the Dashwood sisters as they attempt to navigate financial strife, would-be suitors, and the rigid edicts of English society following the death of their father. Jessica Swale’s elegant stage adaptation of this beloved classic overflows with humor and style. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present Sense and Sensibility at their F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University from September 4-22, 2024.
