(RED BANK, NJ) -- The Art Alliance of Monmouth County presents "Surreal Sculptures" by Bernardo Corman from June 29th - July 19th. Bernardo's Surrealist sculptures are tinged with Magical Realism. Some are whimsical and others are serious, but they share Bernardo's love of merging the clever engineering skills of Man with those of Nature. These juxtapositions have always complemented rather than opposed one another.
"I have striven to find the natural beauty inherent in each form and reveal a relationship which in hindsight seems almost obvious," said Bernardo.
While utilizing the principles of Surrealism and Magical Realism as the platform for these expressions, Bernardo applies a type of humor he would categorize as "cosmic and slightly oblique in nature."
Bernardo began sculpting with his father when he was ten years old. When he saw a coffee table book of exotic antique cars with all their fanciful details he became smitten with the idea of making cars that exist only in his imagination.
The exhibit runs from June 29th to July 19th. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Bernardo will be in the gallery to meet you and chat about his work.
There will be an Opening Reception for the exhibit on Saturday, July 1st from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
