(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Surati for Performing Arts, tri state area's premier award winning nonprofit, has been invited to perform at the Freedom and Fireworks Festival on July 4th, now known as New Jersey's July 4th celebrations. The celebrations will be held at Exchange Place, Jersey City on the waterfront. Hosted by Mayor Steven Fulop, The Jersey City Municipal Council, Exchange Place Alliance and The Office of Cultural Affairs, this event is the one largest Independence Day celebrations in the region drawing more than 150,000 visitors and performances by A-list artists. This year Shaquille O’Neal (a.k.a. DJ Diesel), Funk Flex and Flo Rida will be taking the stage where Surati will be performing.
Surati for Performing Arts will go on stage at 2:30pm and will be presenting a variety of traditional Indian and popular dance and music showcasing its performance calibre and artistic diversity.
The performance will commence with an Indian classical and jazz fusion dance performance set to the music of Sivamani, called Basin Bridge and performed by company dancers Shayna Malhotra, Tanya Chauhan, Karma Chuki and Rimli Roy. The choreography is by Rimli Roy.
This will be followed by a musical performance by upcoming singer-songwriter Rijah, performing her recently released single “In my Mind”. Rijah will be accompanied on stage by dancer Shayna.
Amullya Kale, the most recent recruit of Surati will present an Indian semi classical vocal performance which will be accompanied with movements by Rimli Roy.
Following this Jayanta Banerjee aka JB will present a fusion of a classic rock and roll and a Bollywood song accompanied by dancers Shayna, Karma and Tanya.
Surati’s set will conclude with a Bollywood Medley dance performance presented by Shayna, Tanya and Karma, choreographed by Laxmi Gusain.

Surati has been invited to perform by The Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs as well as Exchange Place Alliance.
There will be significant security and restrictions for obvious reasons, so if you are planning to attend please allow additional time for arrival and parking.

Surati For Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that educates and enriches communities through dance, music, and theatre rooted in Indian art, themes and culture.
