(MAHWAH, NJ) -- Broadway icon LaChanze and her band perform at the Berrie Center for the Arts at Ramapo College of New Jersey on Saturday, October 8 at 8:00pm for a concert full of her Tony award winning show hits and much more.
LaChanze is a vibrant Broadway star with a career that has spanned thirty-one seasons. Her work reflects her desire to bring complex and powerful women to life. She won a Tony award for her work as Celie in “The Color Purple” and earned nominations for her roles as Ti Moune in “Once on This Island” and, most recently, Wiletta in Alice Childress’ play “Trouble in Mind.”
More memorable stage performances include “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical”, “A Christmas Carol”, “The Secret Life of Bees”, among others. Her TV and film work ranges from “Handel’s Messiah Rocks: A Joyful Noise,” for which she earned an Emmy award, to “The Help” to Disney’s “Hercules.”
The Berrie Center for the Arts is located at 505 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah, New Jersey. It is a community resource generously funded by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
