Old York Cellars presents Wine & Comedy Night on August 20th

originally published: 07/31/2022

(RINGOES, NJ) -- Old York Cellars presents Wine & Comedy on Saturday, August 20, 2022.  Norm Klar headlines a night hosted by Vince Valentine and featuring Michelle Tomko and opener Shopia DiCapula. Doors are at 7:00pm; showtime is 8:00pm.

Norm Klar, "..that comedian who does magic".  From screamingly funny to strangely macabre sit back and take the ride with Norm as he blasts his way through what many of his peers say is one of the best all around comedy acts on the East Coast. Regarded by most magicians as a charlatan of the craft they often refer to him as "the man who does to magic what Joan Rivers did for Plastic Surgery".

Most recent notable performance was with Leon Redbone at the Sellersville Theater to great reviews. He has been an opening act over the years for the likes of Tim Allen, Rosie O'Donnell and the late great Mr. Soupy Sales.

Featured comedian Michelle Tomko is a stand-up comedian, actor, fellow, arts commissioner and freelance writer. She has received the Atlantic City Weekly Nightlife Award for "Best Comedian" the past five years in a row. Last year her performance art piece was an official selection for the city-wide art festival 48 Blocks Atlantic City. Tomko, or as she is know across social media, Tomkomedy has been seen locally and in various venues around the country, as well as NPR & TMZ. She has opened for Suzanne Westenhoefer, Johnny A. Sanchez , Chaz Bono, and Demetri Martin.

As a writer, Michelle Tomko has written everything from movie reviews to trade articles to poker columns. Currently Michelle covers local events in AC, Philadelphia and New York for the entertainment platform The Thread SJ. During the pandemic, she finally learned how to use Zoom. Tomko's comedy is a fervent blend of tomboy sensibilities courtesy of the older brothers she grew up with in the Midwest and the barrage of perimenopausal chaos the East Coast world has heaped upon her. She pulls her humor from everyday observations and classic stories of family, travel, pets, and adversity. With razor-sharp crowd work and improvisational skills to the rock-solid timing of a veteran performer, Michelle's act is not to be missed!

Shopia DiCapula, a new comic on the east coast scene, will open the night.

Host Vince Valentine (shown at the top of this article) is a Philadelphia native who has been performing and touring nationally in the one man, Broadway hit "Defending the Caveman" since 2003. It is the longest running One Person show in Broadway history, has been translated into over 50 languages and produced all over the world. Vince has starred as Christopher and toured throughout the United States in "The Soapranos", an interactive parody of the HBO TV series. He has also starred in "Joey and Maria's Italian Wedding". He co-created and stars in the Red Hat production of 'The God Father and Friends', and 'Sleeping with The Seven Fishes', both live interactive comedy/ variety shows.

After being selected from 1,500 actors, then as one of five finalists for NBC10′s "Best Summer Gig Ever, Traffic Contest".

He made a guest appearance on "NBC 10! Live" as a panel guest. His easy going, LIVE on-air banter prefaced the many national market NBC, ABC, CBS & FOX affiliates appearances he would later do, and still does, to promote 'Caveman' live on the air.

Old York Cellars is located at 80 Old York Road in Ringoes, New Jersey.
