(WARETOWN, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library Waretown Branch will present popular Jersey Shore pianist and storyteller Fred Miller’s “Lectures in Song: An American Christmas” on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Fred’s program projects the spirit of all faiths through the mystery and beauty of ancient carols as well as the sprightly songs of the past century, along with poems, anecdotes, and observations that inspire the anticipation, magic, and reverence of the season. The program begins at noon.
Highlighting the program will be an extensive audience sing-along featuring all the great Christmas classics and the moving story behind the writing of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”
The New Jerseyan with New Mexico roots built his career in grand opera, classical and chamber works, and musical comedy before gaining fame as a popular song exponent and authority. “An American Christmas” is one of his more than 70 “Lectures in Song” that commemorate significant personalities and events in American music history.
Fred is also the founder of the Copper Penny Players, a 10 week course that affords participants the enjoyment of singing regardless of musical experience or ability.
