(BARNEGAT, NJ) -- Watercolor creations by longtime Ocean County resident Frank Folinus will be on display throughout June at the Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch. A visitor to the county since 1955, and a full-time resident since 1972, Frank served 35 years as a carpentry teacher, administrator and principal in the Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools.
“My Aunt Irene was an artist,” Frank recalled, “and taught me to oil paint when I was five years old. I never had time to paint when I had a family and work.” In addition to watercolors, he also builds electric guitars and paints them thematically.
Frank said that as a lifelong boating, fishing, and surfing enthusiast, he conveys his love of the outdoors, especially Barnegat, Waretown and Forked River, through his art.
“The paintings in the exhibit…will all be of local scenes in this area,” he continued. “[They] are supposed to give the viewer a peaceful feeling and appreciation for the history and wonderful scenery in Ocean County.”
There is no charge to view the exhibit, and no registration is required. The Barnegat Branch is at 112 Burr Street.
