(SOUTH AMBOY, NJ) -- The completed painting of the winning mural design in Middlesex County's Mural Contest was unveiled Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at a ceremony at Raritan Bay Waterfront Park. This exciting initiative engaged local artists and community members in transforming Middlesex County's open spaces into an artistic reflection of this vibrant community.
After carefully reviewing numerous impressive submissions, the panel of judges selected the design submitted by Julia Virginia Win of Metuchen, which provides an homage to the transportation and history of South Amboy. Win received an honorarium for her winning design. The mural was painted by professional muralist Louie Blacka.
“On behalf of the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Julia Virginia Win on her selected mural design, and express gratitude to all of the contest participants for their exceptional artwork,” said Director of the Board of County Commissioners Ronald G. Rios. “I encourage residents and visitors to come check out this wonderful new mural and the beautiful South Amboy waterfront. Art has a transformative power, especially public art, which can inspire people and enhance even an already scenic location like Raritan Bay Waterfront Park.”
