(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- ** UPDATE: This show was cancelled. ** In Season 9 of NBC’s The Voice, Elizabeth, NJ resident and rock singer Manny Cabo, inspired all four celebrity coaches to turn their chairs toward him in approval (a rarity on that show) with his soaring vocal performance of Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again.” He’s played Montclair before. Now he returns to town for a unique acoustic show at Just Jake’s on Sunday, May 21 at 6:30pm.
Manny has recently completed the Wizards of Winter tour where he contributed a powerful tenor lead vocal with a group of virtuoso rock musicians performing original progressive rock Christmas songs. He releases a high-quality rock single each month on streaming platforms, recorded in collaboration with Grammy-winning producers. His tracks sometimes cross over into a mix with country or Latin styles, including some Spanish language singles. He has also appeared on "La Voz," the Spanish language version of "The Voice."
This singer seeks to inspire and inform future generations of artists with his podcast “Mojo for Musicians.” In that spirit, he has partnered with School of Rock Montclair for this special performance. The music school’s house band will give an acoustic performance in support of Manny’s headlining set.
Montclair resident Jason Didner will open and emcee the show on the strength of his funny and relatable songs like “You Can’t Get There from Here in Jersey,” which has racked up a combined 10,000 views on YouTube among its various video incarnations and was listed among the 10 best songs of 2022 by New Jersey artists in Asbury Park Press. Jason also recently opened for acclaimed New York City rocker Willie Nile at his hometown’s “Outpost in the Burbs” concert series.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 22 on Eventbrite. Adult tickets go for $20 (plus fees) while student/child tickets (age 17 & under) cost $15 (plus fees). Just Jake’s is located at 30 Park Street, Montclair, NJ. Doors open at 6:00pm.
