(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Amor Towles, creator of three consecutive novels of worldwide renown in little more than a decade, will discuss his life in literature as part of the Ocean County Library's Virtual Author Talk series on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. The event begins at 8:00pm.

Towles turned to literary pursuits after a career in investment counseling. The Yale and Stanford alumnus has been lauded for sophistication and sensitivity in his depictions of mid-20th Century American society. The 2023 Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award recipient will release a volume of short stories 2024.

Towles’s remarkable run began in 2011 with Rules of Civility, acclaimed by the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. It has been translated into 15 languages and optioned to become a feature film.

His next novel, 2016’s A Gentleman in Moscow, remained on the New York Times best-seller list for two years and was published in 35 languages. A mini-series featuring Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is expected to air in 2024.

The Lincoln Highway, published in 2021, debuted at the top of the New York Times best-seller list, won Best Book of the Year honors from the Washington Post and Amazon, and earned raves from former President Barack Obama and Bill Gates.
