(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library will host noted local author Margaret Thomas Buchholz's presentation, “Celebrating the Jersey Shore” on Monday, July 11 at 7:00pm at the Point Pleasant Beach Branch, and Friday, July 22 at 2:00pm at the Toms River Branch. Travel "down the shore" as Margaret illustrates the fundamental, timeless activities that perennially give vacationers memorable experiences that spark return visits.
Margaret Thomas Buchholz co-authored Great Storms of the Jersey Shore, which The New York Times called “one of the best documented compendiums ever published of what it meant to be there.”
Her other written works include New Jersey Shipwrecks: 350 Years in the Graveyard of the Atlantic, winner of the Foundation for Coast Guard History award; Island Album Photographs: Memories of Long Beach Island; and Josephine: From Washington Working Girl to Fisherman’s Wife.
The Long Beach Island-based writer edited Shore Chronicles: Diaries and Travelers’ Tales from the Jersey Shore 1764-1955; Long Beach Island Reader; and Long Beach Island Chronicles. Her Jersey Shore-oriented essays are included in two anthologies, Four Seasons at the Shore and Shore Stories.
