Art Fair 14C returns November 11-13

originally published: 10/03/2022

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- New Jersey’s largest visual arts event, Art Fair 14C, returns for its 4th Edition from November 11-13, 2022, at the historic Armory located at 678 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, New Jersey. The non-profit organization creates opportunities for artists, expands the public's accessibility to the fine arts, and strengthens Jersey City as an arts hub destination while engaging with tens of thousands of visitors.

“Art Fair 14C was created as an answer to the question of how to help people in the visual arts make a living. Art fairs produce sales and provide connections and opportunities beyond just selling art – and our artists and galleries have been mostly shut out. So, it seemed obvious: start an art fair in New Jersey,” said Executive Director of Art Fair 14C Robinson Holloway. "The fair has grown in size and quality every year, and for the 4th Edition we have thousands of incredible works of art from all genres, and at all price points."

The non-profit’s low participation cost creates an accessible and inclusive ecosystem for local artists and galleries in New Jersey, connecting them with the broader public to activate additional interest and engagement in the visual arts. The Arts and Cultural Production Satellite Account (ACPSA) is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Office of Research & Analysis and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). It reports New Jersey ranks third in the country for economic impact. Arts and value-added cultural production account for 3.4% of the state’s total gross product, creating over 119,619 jobs and accounting for over $20 billion of the state’s economy.

Since the non-profit started, participating artists have sold over $1 million in art at the event which is New Jersey’s only international art fair.  Through their hands-on efforts, the fair helps artists by setting up exhibition booths, showcasing work for exposure, and getting artists into other exhibits through their extensive network of art dealers, galleries, and arts organizations.

The dynamic 3-day event offers visitors and fellow artists many opportunities to participate, from daytime admissions to evening events such as date night, alongside guided tours. For the 2nd year in a row, Art Fair 14C acknowledges the actionable duties and service of veterans and military personnel by offering the public free admission on Friday, also recognized as Veterans Day. Veterans, active duty military, and reserve members will have a dedicated exhibition space to showcase their art and receive complimentary admission to Art Fair 14C Friday through Sunday during all public hours.

Applications are now closed for this year’s 2022 Showcase, with all booths occupied by international exhibitors, arts organizations, Chelsea galleries, and artists specializing in different mediums. All winners of this year’s 2022 Showcase will receive a free exhibition booth at the 5th Edition of Art Fair 14C next year.

"Open Book(s)" - Adventures on the wild frontier of bookmaking, and meaning-making, in the first floor galleries of Mana Contemporary

Books do not need to be beautiful objects to be cherished. Many indispensable books on my shelf were in poor condition when I brought them home from the shop. The publishers who put out the cheap yellow-page paperbacks that rocked my world and set my course when I was a child didn’t give much consideration to font, printing, or paper stock. All that mattered was readability. Could I open it fast, close it up quick, and chuck it in my bag when I was done? If anybody at the publishing company was making design decisions, those were their objectives. Any impediment to or distraction from the reading experience was unwelcome. They took it for granted that everything that mattered was inside the book.
