(SURF CITY, NJ) -- During Hispanic Heritage Month, explore the rich and diverse history of Flamenco through a stirring performance of this flamboyant, dramatic dance form. The Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch is pleased to present a performance by the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The event begins at 2:00pm.
Considered New Jersey’s premier Spanish and Latin American dance company, the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre was founded in 1965 as the Maria Alba Spanish Dance Company and quickly built a loyal following in major East Coast venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space.
In 1980, Maria and current Artistic and Executive Director Eva Lucena introduced dynamic choreographers to project a broad perspective of Spanish culture. Today, Alborada maintains a vast repertoire of dance forms and dance dramas with origins in Spain and Latin America.
