"The Last Supper" to have World Premiere at SOPAC

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- The Last Supper debuts at South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) from July 27 to August 7. This world premiere new musical comedy is about five liberal grad students sharing a house in a conservative college town who, in their efforts to save the world, invite some neighbors to dinner for a political discussion. Things do not go well.

Starring Tony Nominee Charlotte d’Amboise (A Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, Chicago, Pippin), Mark Evans (Mrs. Doubtfire, Waitress, The Play That Went Wrong, Ghost, Wicked), Alex Newell (Glee, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Once on This Island), Pomme Koch (A Band’s Visit), Megan Kane (A Walk on the Moon), Allan Washington (Once on This Island, SpongeBob), and Wes Zurick (A Walk on the Moon).  Charlotte d’Amboise, Mark Evans and Alex Newell are shown above.

Directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Mothers and Sons, Last Fall) and choreographed by Lorin Latarro (Into the Woods, Waitress, Mrs. Doubtfire). Written by Jeremy Desmon and Jeff Thompson based on the SONY film with screenplay by Dan Rosen. Produced by two time Tony award winner Howard Kagan (Porgy and Bess, Pippin, On The Town, The Great Comet). Co- produced by Matt Cooper and David Cooper and Stephen Schnall.

The musical runs 100 minutes, no intermission. Performances take place Wednesday, July 27 at 7:30pm; Thursday, July 28 at 7:30pm; Friday, July 29 at 7:30pm; Saturday, July 30 at 3:00pm; Saturday, July 30 at 7:30pm; Sunday, July 31 at 3:00pm; Wednesday, August 3 at 7:30pm; Thursday, August 4 at 7:30pm; Friday, August 5 at 7:30pm; Saturday, August 6 at 3:00pm; Saturday, August 6 at 7:30pm;  and Sunday, August 7 at 3:00pm.

South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) is located at One SOPAC Way in South Orange, New Jersey. Since 2006, SOPAC has been serving as a premier performing arts center in the region. SOPAC offers innovative artistic and cultural experiences for diverse audiences in an intimate, inviting environment. The arts center hosts a variety of live performances, community events and education programs for all ages. SOPAC is home for Seton Hall University Arts Council’s performances, including the Classical Concert Series, Jazz ‘N the Hall performances and Seton Hall University Theatre productions.
