West Windsor Arts Council Presents The Art of the Pour, Wine Tasting and Artist Talk with sculptor Kate Graves

(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- Pouring wine and pouring metal for sculpture casting could not be more different, but they will pair well in a new program on Saturday, June 24 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at the West Windsor Arts Center in Princeton Junction. Offering an opportunity to learn what is hot right now in the world of wines, then about the hot molten metal sculpture process, the event will feature wine tastings by CoolVines, appetizers by Tre Piani and Bon Appetit, cheese pairings and an artist talk by sculptor Kate Graves.

This event is also a fundraiser for the West Windsor Arts Council’s spring fund drive. A portion of the ticket price and any other donations will be matched by WWAC’s generous anonymous donor. Limited space is available. Admission is $50 Members, $60 non-Members. Must be 21 plus. Register online at www.westwindsorarts.org.

West Windsor Arts Council Presents The Art of the Pour, Wine Tasting and Artist Talk with sculptor Kate Graves

Originally from California, artist Kate Graves has called New Jersey home since 1995 when she relocated in order to begin a sculpture apprenticeship at the Johnson Atelier in Trenton. Since then she has exhibited her work extensively throughout the region including exhibitions at Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie, The Gallery at Chapin, The Noyes Musuem of Art, and has permanent installations at the D & R Greenway in Princeton and at Capital Health hospital in Hopewell. In her talk, a rare occurrence for this dynamic artist, Graves will discuss her background and artistic projects, influences, and the casting process.

Adam Goldenberg of CoolVines, Princeton will present the wine tastings featuring 5 biodynamic wines. The concept of Biodynamics started in the 1920's with an Austrian philosopher named Rudolph Steiner. It is a holistic, homeopathic manner of farming that, of course, also includes viticulture. It is the oldest, anti-chemical agricultural movement that predates the creation of organic farming by about twenty years. Appetizers will be provided by event sponsors Tre Piani and Bon Appetit.

The West Windsor Arts Council’s mission is to provide professional quality community arts programming in order to support, educate, inspire, and promote the arts and art appreciation in the greater West Windsor community. Founded in 2002, the arts council opened the doors of the new West Windsor Arts Center as of September 25, 2010 in the historic Princeton Junction Firehouse at 952 Alexander Road, West Windsor, NJ 08550.
