(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The African American History Museum of Southern New Jersey presents "Talking About HERstory" on Thursday, May 6th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. The free event provides a virtual tour of one of the museum’s many exhibits, followed by a live Q&A with AAHMSNJ president and founder Ralph Hunter, Sr. and exhibit curator Anne Glapion. Dr. Beverly Vaughn, Stockton University Associate Professor of Music, will serve as the evening’s moderator.
“Talking About HERstory” originally opened at the museum on March 5, 2020 – only to be shut down shortly after because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. The newly updated virtual tour explores the acts of African American women who drove local and national progress throughout history. It pays tribute to a long list of South Jersey women — like Sarah Spencer Washington, Drs. Vera King Farris, Barbara Gaba, Rita Mack and many, many others whose legacies are part of the fabric of Atlantic City and our region.
As we prepare to celebrate mothers and the important role women play in our families and our lives, we are delighted to salute dozens of strong women who paved the way for so many of us.
Registration for this free event may be made online.
