Teenage guitar ace plays The Stanhope House on May 7

(STANHOPE, NJ) -- There will be music in the air – literally – on Friday, May 7, when Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and his band perform outdoors as part of the spring/summer concert series at The Stanhope House in Sussex County.  The 18-year-old guitarist and singer-songwriter has played with a who’s who of the rock-blues-roots scene, tours nationally and made his national TV debut at age 10. Tickets are $30 for this all-ages show, plus $3 fee online, and are available for purchase online.

“I’m super excited. How amazing is it that this amazing venue finally gets to return from Covid?” Niederauer said in an interview with Bob O’Donnell of the “Morning Dew” show on WFDU-FM. “It’s light at the end of the tunnel, and I can’t wait to be part of that.”

Taz has performed with guitar maestros Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph and Buddy Guy  – to name just a few of the musical icons he has shared the stage with. And he follows in their footsteps with his return to Stanhope, as Haynes, Trucks, Randolph and Guy also have played at the legendary New Jersey venue.

Among his many credits, Niederauer has performed at Madison Square Garden as part of a Knicks game (video below), played the national anthem at Chicago’s Wrigley Field and appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (at age 10), “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “Good Morning America” and “The View.”

Doors open at 5:30pm for the May 7 show, and the music starts at 7:00pm. The full schedule for May 2021 at The Stanhope House is: May 1: Acoustic Mayhem. May 2: David Rimelis. Wednesday, May 5: Cinco de Mayo Party with The Stinking Gringos. May 7: Brandon “Taz” Niederauer. May 8: Blue Ox & The Randy Haze Trio. May 9: Cassidy Rain of The Outcrops. May 14: Hounds of Blues. Any ticketed show that does not start due to inclement weather will be rescheduled. Tickets for Beer Garden shows can be purchased here.

The renovated and expanded Beer Garden opens Thursdays through Saturdays at 5:30pm, and at 2 o’clock on Sundays. Check the Stanhope web site or Facebook page for the latest news and any changes due to the weather. The venerable venue reopened April 17 after being closed in November 2020 for the winter.

The Stanhope House (45 Main Street in Stanhope, New Jersey) bills itself as “The Last Great American Roadhouse” and has hosted everyone from blues legends and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, to locals playing at open-mic nights. Like the rest of the entertainment industry, the “House” where legend has it that Babe Ruth once drank has been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020-21.
