Spiral Sounds Hosts Abbie Gardner & Craig Akin

originally published: 12/09/2018

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Spiral Sounds' next concert on Friday, December 14th, is a duo with Abbie Gardner and Craig Akin.  Abbie is a key element in the Americana vocal powerhouse, Red Molly, who are well known throughout the U.S. for their impressive harmonies.  Craig has performed extensively with Roosevelt Dime and Red Molly. Doors open 6:30pm, concert at 7:30pm sharp.

"Abbie is a top dobro player with a voice that just can't be beat.  She's also one of the sweetest, most upbeat persons I've met in many years," noted Spiral Sounds' website. "Craig appears to be able to play anything  you can lay on him.  He is one of those special bassists that can just play the right backing sound or lay out some incredibly melodic solos with seeming ease, even when improvising."

Abbie and Craig will be donating half of all their musician fees to Grace Community Services (GCS), a non-profit arm of Grace church in Jersey City that feeds the hungry on week-ends and has an active senior program.

Seat reservations, and additional information, may be found at www.SpiralSounds.org.  The venue address will be disclosed to those making reservations.

Spiral Sounds is a house-concert series within the New York City metro area.  Located in Paulus Hook, a Victorian waterside neighborhood of Jersey City, our venue provides an intimate setting for acoustic music in an 1870 Victorian townhouse.  The $20 donation and all CD sales go directly to the musician.  Doors open 6:30pm, concert begins 7:30 sharp.

About Spiral Sounds: We want to enable fine musicians to earn a living from their art.  We want to help discerning people hear high quality music.  Our vision is to pull these two groups together for the sustenance and enjoyment of both.

Our current focus is upon acoustic based musicians that are professionals but without that big music label contract yet, or those musicians that still have their day jobs and are on the cusp of earning a living full time from their craft. Our audience is generally made up of musically informed people, other musicians, and those that just love live music.

As most musicians now hit the road in order to earn their living, House Concerts have become a wonderful alternative to the bar scene. Live-music loving people open their homes for a more intimate experience to hear music and musicians obtain donations at the house concerts, more often with better income than from the bars and nightclubs.  Musicians and audience often chat over snacks and drink in the kitchen, a bond and a community are often found in these venues that can not be found elsewhere in the musical world.

House concerts are the platform we have chosen to bring our two groups together, musicians and a music loving audience, so that we can enable the ongoing support of our musical culture.
