Soraia Cracks Billboard Charts With "Tight Lipped"

originally published: 04/15/2021

Philadelphia rock quartet Soraia is making an impact on the Billboard charts with their powerful new single "Tight-Lipped." The track has been racking up radio play on commercial Active Rock stations around the country, including WMMR (Philadelphia), WRIF (Detroit), WRAT (New Jersey), WDHA (New Jersey), KCAL (Southern California), KFMA (Tucson, AZ), WWSK (Long Island, NY) and SiriusXM's Underground Garage channel, among others. The song has been in the Top 40 on the Billboard Rock Indicator Charts and is currently at #32.

The track was released in February as a 7" single with a b-side cover of Aerosmith's "Angel," ft. a guest appearance by their Wicked Cool Records labelmate Jessie Wagner.

A gripping and highly cinematic music video for the song (directed by Sam Shapson, whose credits include Machine Gun Kelly, Halestorm) premiered in February. The video plays out like a Hollywood thriller that expresses the theme of the song: Breaking free from the shackles that bind.

Frontwoman ZouZou Mansour says, "The whole band is on fire with how well our newest single is doing! From getting our video debut in Billboard, to a feature article in Loudwire, these are all first accomplishments we have been wanting for a long time. It's thrilling to watch the song ascend on the Billboard Rock Indicator chart, and be added to Active Rock Commercial Radio Stations across the US. With every new release, we grow. Our fans, our label, and our team are who we really need to thank with all our hearts. Thank you, and can't wait to see where the road takes us! Still we rise...."

Of the new track, Mansour says, "'Tight-Lipped' is about a woman who politely refuses to challenge the status quo and direction of her life. It's a final recognition of the part she has played in her own oppressive censoring - a soulful rebuke of her former beliefs on how to live. But by the end of the song, it becomes a triumphant declaration of who she now is: "'Meet Ophelia--no more promises. I refuse to be so tight-lipped.'"

Fans can stream orbuy "Tight-Lipped" hereWatch for Soraia to get back on the road soon, including a stint as direct support for Joan Jett and The Blackhearts on November 20, 2021 at the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY.

"Tight-Lipped" follows on the heels of Soraia's most recent studio LP 'Dig Your Roots' which is streaming here. That album was produced and engineered by Geoff Sanoff (Bruce Springsteen, Fountains Of Wayne, Dashboard Confessional) and spawned a number of singles, including "Evergreen", "Wild Woman" and "Superman is Gone."

Soraia epitomizes raw power, unrelenting energy, chaos, and freedom. With a live show that is frenetic and intensely interactive, the band's chemistry has been cemented through years of fierce, persistent touring from the dingiest dives to the most massive amphitheaters, helping them attract a worldwide fanbase.

Frontwoman ZouZou Mansour is a spiritual descendent of iconic women in rock such as Patti Smith and Joan Jett, and the band embodies elements of kindred spirits of the ’90s and beyond - like PJ Harvey and The Kills, with more than a sprinkling of ’60s Garage Rock and Soul. Their primal sonic attack spreads a message of perseverance through trials of love, loss and letting go.
