Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites...12/30/21

By Danny Coleman

originally published: 12/30/2021

Well, another challenging year has come and gone; venues have closed, artists have struggled and the overall vibe has not been fully restored to what it once was but don’t fret my friends. You see, the musicians and entertainers of this era are tough, they have survived lockdowns, cancellations, job loss and everything else thrown their way; kind of like all of us.

Through division and in some cases self-segregation we have become an industry and nation of; which side do you fall on? There’s no need to spell it out here as the case is made clear every time one opens their cell phone, tablet or laptop. Be it political, medical or one’s own ideology the simple truth is; you have a right to an opinion no matter how wrong or right it may seem to another.

The good thing about the arts, be they music, visual, interpretive, comedic or theater is that everyone who participates or views their favorite form takes away something from each performance, in short; it means something different to everyone.

So, keep that in mind before you mock, criticize, un-friend, block or look upon with disdain another member of your race; the HUMAN race. We all have differences, it is what makes the world go around but like a picture hanging in an exhibit or a certain poem or song; we are all not going to see it the same.

As we move into 2022, let’s try and support one another, respect our differences be they in ideas or of opinion and realize that in the grand scheme of things we can either make enemies or make a difference.
