ROCK ON! This Week's Sound Bites...2/5/15

By Danny Coleman

originally published: 02/05/2015

Normally this space has a dedicated interview or review; not so this week. There's much happening in various music scenes all around our great state and this space is going to highlight a few that have been brought to its attention.

Kicking things off on Thursdays; Smithereens principal songwriter Pat DiNizio continues his stay at the Langosta Lounge, located at 1000 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park as he continues his "Confessions of a Rockstar" series at this popular venue. What started as a one month engagement has turned into a four month run, currently scheduled to wrap up on February 26. Every Thursday at 8 p.m. EST Pat can be found telling stories and playing the corresponding songs which have been spawned by more than 35 years in the music business. The show, which is free admission and is also broadcast live over the internet via www.40footholestudio.com is a great microcosm of Pat's career.

A bit "Further On Up the Road" on Friday, NJ Blues Hall of Fame artist Chuck Lambert has returned from a brief vacation and will be tearing the roof off of Giamanos Ristorante located at 301 Main Street in Bradley Beach. Join Chuck as he kicks off his 2015 blues season with this 8 p.m. performance.

Also on Friday, "Let The Good Times Roll" at the 709 in Point Pleasant as Mr. Lucky returns to this 709 Arnold Avenue location bringing their brand of upbeat jump blues to this popular restaurant/bar. Show time is 8:30 p.m. and bring your dancing shoes.

Saturday, Mary Fahl of the October Project lends a hand raising awareness for epilepsy as her and Jersey shore product Jerzy Jung take the stage at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ewing, NJ as part of the Candlelight Concert for Epilepsy Awareness series (www.candlelightconcert.org). Show time is 7 p.m. and Trinity United is located at 1985 Pennington Road (Rte. 31) directly across from the entrance of The College of New Jersey.

Kevin Toft and his All Star Band will invade Patriots Crossing in Titusville, NJ at 7:30 p.m. Playing a mix of covers and original material, Toft is always joined by surprise "special guests." Patriots Crossing is located at 1339 River Road and has a complete menu to go with a fully stocked bar.

Sunday at 4 p.m., Sandy Mack returns to the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park for the first "Wonder Jam" of 2015. Join Sandy and his cast of incredibly talented musicians as they rock "Tilly" silly.

That's it for this week! Please continue to support live and original music and until next week....ROCK ON!
