
(GLASSBORO, NJ) -- Violinist David Kim, Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra, appears in a guest artist recital presented by the Department of Music at Rowan University on Tuesday, February 5 at 8:00pm in Boyd Recital Hall. The program, accompanied by pianist Jeffrey DeVault, features music by Johannes Brahms, Jules Massenet, Pablo de Sarasate, Igor Stravinsky and more. Additionally, Kim offers a free master class earlier in the day at 4:30pm in Boyd Recital Hall.
Kim started playing the violin at the age of three and went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. He was named Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999 and appears as soloist with Orchestra each season, in addition to performances at festivals and with orchestras around the world. Kim frequently appears as a guest with famed modern hymn writers Keith and Kristyn Getty at venues such as the Grand Ole Opry, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Carnegie Hall. He is the founder and artistic director of the annual David Kim Orchestral Institute of Cairn University in Philadelphia, where he is a professor of Violin Studies.
Recital tickets are $20 (general admission), $15 (seniors/military/alumni/non-Rowan students), and free for Rowan students/faculty/staff with ID.
