(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Among the films being shown at this year's Garden State Film Festival is Passaic, directed by Short Hills resident, Douglas Underdahl, who was also the film's cinematographer, and written and produced by Michael Klausner. The son of an investigative journalist stumbles upon his late father's last unsolved case - a 1960s murder that tore apart the gritty town of Passaic, NJ - and he needs to decide if he will dig back into the decades-old crime, to discover the truth behind the tragedy, in order to better understand his father and, ultimately, himself. Based on a true story.
The cast includes Martin Barabas, Jason Cerbone, Patrick Collins, Ben Curtis, H. Foley, Jason Liebman, Jon J. Masters, Tom Paolino, John Schiappa, and Shannon Marie Sullivan.
The film will screen on Saturday, March 24 from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Senior Center. The festival itself runs from March 22-March 25, 2018.
“We are excited to present Passaic as a part of our 16th Annual Film Festival in Asbury Park, and shine a spotlight on the extraordinary talent from our state,” says Lauren Concar, the festival’s Executive Director.
Individual film screening tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. Weekend Passes for the Festival are $50 and includes all events and film screenings – except the Awards Banquet on Sundayevening. Day Passes are also available - the Saturday Day Pass is $30 and Sunday Day Pass is $25.
The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) was envisioned by 25-year film industry veteran Diane Raver and the late Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli in 2002 and launched the following year. Since 2003, thousands of films have made their public premiers, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world have attended; and the total infusion of cash to local businesses since inception exceeds $5 million. It was held in Asbury Park, in and around the Convention Center complex. From 2014 to 2017, it was held in Atlantic City. Beginning in 2018, it will move back to Asbury Park. The GSFF is a 501-c-3 non- profit organization.
