Stars in My Backyard: A Sky Talk for Kids - Saturday, June 12 at 12:00pm. This immersive experience illustrates the role of the sun, atmosphere and weather on the earth, including a passing rainstorm. After sunset, visit the planets and constellations visible in the current seasonal sky, including a trip to a distant star!
Secret of the Cardboard Rocket - Saturday, June 12 at 2:00pm. Join two adventurous children as they use their imaginations, a refrigerator box and a helpful animated astronomy book to take a tour of the solar system. Travel with them to the planets and learn how each one is unique.
Wonders of the Seasonal Sky - Saturday, June 12 at 6:00pm. Join them for a tour of the night sky, including moon phases, planets and constellations visible in the current season.
On-Demand Virtual Events Offered
All Summer Rainy day? Not ready to come back? That's okay! The Planetarium will offer on-demand versions of our virtual events all summer. Virtual programs will be updated monthly, and are available to watch at your convenience anytime during a two-week window.
Virtual Stars in My Backyard On-Demand through June 17 - In June, Captain Cara takes a tour of the stars in her backyard. Learn about moon phases, visible planets and stars in the night sky in June. She also talks about the Summer Solstice. Recommended for audiences aged 6-11.
Virtual Wonders of the Summer Sky On-Demand through June 17 - Join Planetarium Manager Cara Muscio for a tour of the June night sky. She will talk about the night sky in June and the Summer Solstice. Recommended for audiences 12 and up.
Safety measures at the Planetarium will include: Hand Sanitizer will be readily available throughout the venue. Masks are optional, but encouraged in common areas. Parties will be seated by Planetarium staff with some space between groups. They ask that you maintain some distance between your group and others while in the lobby areas. Their HVAC system has been upgraded with UV-C disinfection technology. The Planetarium will be professionally cleaned by OCC Facilities staff between each show. They encourage contactless ticket buying and encourage you to buy in advance. Due to limited ticket capacity, tickets may sell out quickly. Visit tickets.ocean.edu to purchase.
Updated Exchange and Refund Policy: Not feeling well? Please do not come to the show. A ticket exchange or refund for all guests who are not feeling well will be handled as follows:
* Up to the event start time, please email them at planetarium@ocean.edu to notify that your party will not be joining them due to illness. They will reply within 24 business hours to discuss a ticket exchange or refund
* Please notify them in writing by email before the start time of the event. They will not be able to grant an exchange or refund if you notify them after the event that you did not attend
