Newark To Offer Free Movie Nights For Residents This Summer

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The City of Newark will offer free movie nights for residents on Tuesday nights this summer. Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Director of Recreation, Cultural Affairs, and Senior Services Patrick Council made the announcement on June 18th. Films include Queen & Slim, Life, Knives Out, Harriett, Rocketman, Crooklyn, In The Heights, 21 Bridges, The Lion King, Trolls World Tour, Going In Style, and How To Train Your Dragon.

Summer Fun Movie Nights, sponsored by the Centers of Hope and Census 2020 as well as the city, will bring free family-oriented movies to Military Park and other outdoor sites around the city. Attendees must practice social distancing and should bring chairs and blankets for their family.

The films are free for all residents. All screenings begin at 7:00pm.

"Our city has always worked to provide our residents the best possible summer, with enjoyable, safe, and educational family- and youth-oriented activities," said Mayor Baraka. "I urge our residents to join with us at our movie nights for enjoyable family films, sharing laughter and unity under the stars."
