Newark Mayor To Cut Ribbon Opening The Painter's Palette On June 27

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Newark Community Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Aisha Glover, The Painter’s Palette owner Celeste Banks will cut the ribbon to open The Painter’s Palette on Tuesday, June 27, at 11:00 a.m., at 1-9 7th Avenue, in Newark’s Central Ward.

The Painter’s Palette, located in the city’s Lower Broadway neighborhood, offers daily art classes and exhibitions.  After teaching more than 10 years for Jersey City Public Schools, Ms. Banks served as an Adjunct Professor of Fine Arts at Essex County College, and a Professor in Residence at William Paterson University. Her experiences working in the City of Newark impacted her significantly. Recently, her non-profit, Activism Through Arts (ATA), was awarded the an ArtStart Grant from the Newark Arts Council.

Beginning September 2017, ATA will host "Lower Broadway Creative Mondays" at The Painter's Palette NJ. This program will offer free fine arts and dance classes to all Newark residents from 6:00pm - 7:00pm each and every Monday.

Classic Radio Road Show to Perform Radio Comedies at Navesink and Monroe Libraries

(NAVESINK, NJ) -- Classic Radio Road Show is presenting two radio comedies from the same series, "My Favorite Husband", on Saturday, May 18 at The Navesink Library and Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Monroe Public Library. Radio plays employ sound effects produced live (Foley), with the voice actors and recorded music to help tell the story. Showtime is 2:00pm for both performances.
