New Jersey Film Festival Fall 2021 Virtual and Live Screenings have begun!

By Al Nigrin

originally published: 09/12/2021

Last night was the first live screening at the New Jersey Film Festival in over 18 months. I missed the hustle and bustle of getting ready to do live shows. The checklist is always very long. In addition, we are training new NJFF staff on the ins and outs of these screenings at the same time. We have a wonderful group of NJFF Interns and Volunteers who are an absolute joy to work with. As a result of this being the first show, I forgot to have them or myself, for that matter, take photos of visiting New York City filmmaker Martin Del Carpio at the live showing of his wonderful experimental film The Dark Forest last night. I guess I am still rusty for not having done these live shows for a while but Martin did take some lovely photos of his film on our huge screen.

Surprisingly, we actually did have a live audience. About 20 people showed up for the socially distanced and masked show. Overall, the hybrid screening of The Dark Forest and The 9 O'clock Whistle was a great success with over 100 tickets sold for the live and online screening combined. So, the Fall 2021 New Jersey Film Festival is off to a great start. Hope you will join us for the next screening TODAY which features Ailleurs Partout (Everywhere Elsewhere).

Ailleurs Partout (Everywhere Elsewhere)
provides an intimate view into the experience of one young refugee’s journey from Iran to England, using unique visuals and a strong soundtrack to evoke his emotional state very effectively within the viewer. Be sure to check this film out at the New Jersey Film Festival (in-person or online) on Sunday, September 12 alongside experimental short Spinal. In addition to the 7 PM live screening, these films will be available to stream online on the same date, starting at 12 AM. Go here for more info on this screening:
