(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- In Pittsburgh, he is a legend, but Joe Grushecky's roots are well planted along the Jersey Shore as well. Millions of rock and roll fans know his history with Bruce Springsteen (songs written together, guest spots on albums, and plenty of stages shared together for live shows) but Grushecky and his hard working, blue-collar band, The Houserockers, have been playing shows here for decades. From July 17 through August 30, a special exhibit at Asbury Park Where Music Lives Exhibit and Performance Center will take a look back and his connection to the Jersey Shore and events that helped shape his life via photographs, videos, and memorabilia.
The Houserockers released their debut album, Love's So Tough, on MCA Records in 1979. Other albums included Blood On the Bricks (1981), Cracking Under Pressure (1983), Swimming With The Sharks (1991), End of the Century (1994), American Babylon (1995), Coming Home (1998), True Companion (2004), and East Carson Street (2009). Grushecky has also released several solo albums including Fingerprints (2002), A Good Life (2006), and Somewhere East of Eden (2013).
Where Music Lives Exhibit and Performance Center is located at 708 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ. For more information visit http://www.asburyparkmusiclives.org
