Morris Museum Announces New Jersey Arts Annual: Crafts Exhibition

originally published: 08/22/2014
(Morristown, NJ) - The Morris Museum is accepting submissions of art for consideration to be exhibited in the upcoming New Jersey Arts Annual: Crafts. The exhibition will be on view in Morristown from February 12 through April 19, 2015. Submissions will be accepted through November 21, 2014. The New Jersey Arts Annual is a unique series of exhibitions highlighting the works of visual artists and craftspeople in the state.

The theme of the Morris Museum's presentation of the New Jersey Arts Annual is Accessorize - The Person & The Place. The exhibition will explore trends taking place in contemporary crafts as artists cross boundaries in process and materials. The Museum is seeking craft artisans who epitomize both innovative design and a mastery of technique through expressions that range from the inventive exploration of contemporary materials (plastic, wearable technology, and found objects) to hand-crafted, low-tech processes that utilize traditional mediums (clay, glass, wood, fiber, and metal). This exhibition series is open to any artist currently living or working in New Jersey.

The New Jersey Arts Annual series is cosponsored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts in partnership with major museums around the state including the Morris Museum, the Montclair Art Museum, the Newark Museum, The Noyes Museum of Art, and the New Jersey State Museum.

The jurors for the exhibition are Ronald T. Labaco, Marcia Docter Curator, Museum of Arts and Design and Angela Sergonis-Melchionne, Associate Curator, Morris Museum.

A prospectus is available on the Morris Museum's website at www.morrismuseum.org. Applicants are required to submit a completed application with all supporting materials by November 21, 2014.
